Napping in Nikes

March 7th, 2010 by Pam

Tyson loves his new nike shoes I bought for him today so much he had to sleep in them! Screamed “Noooo!!” when Erin tried to take them off for his nap!  Best not argue with a determined toddler!

I just had to sneak in and take this pic!

Erin’s previous scan showed she had a low laying placenta, but today’s scan saw that it had moved upwards and completely out of the way.

It was fantastic to see her again, with the assurance that she is progressing perfectly.  She is very cramped in there now with her head down, so getting images was harder, especially her face as she continually hid behind her hands.  She surprised us all by opening her eyes several times during the ultrasound – which the sonographer said was unusual as the fluid is pretty gritty so babies rarely open their eyes.  We also got to see her practicing breathing! And just to be extra-super-dooper-positive Erin asked to check her sex, and yep, it’s a girl, no mistake!

She now weighs 4lb 7oz, and should she continue to gain weight (at the same pace), she should be about 7lb 10oz at birth, a little smaller than Tyson  at 8lb 3oz.

Jimbaran Bay ~ Bali

February 13th, 2010 by Pam

Gra and I are back from 9 days of total relaxation staying at Villa Hening, owned by a good friend who invited us to stay.  A truly wonderful host, making this holiday stand out as one of our best! Every day was incredibly hot, so we didn’t venture too far from the pool, enjoying uninterrupted views of Jimbaran Bay.

View from our room

The first thing we did was purchase a good set of binoculars!

It It It’s hIt has been 15 years since our last visit to Kuta, and we found it noticeably cleaner and tidier, much to our immense relief!  Visiting during the off peak season, it was lovely and quiet.

We We

We Never tired of watching planes landing and taking off from Dempasar Airport.  At night, the lights of Benowa Harbour across the bay looked amazing with clear night skies full of twinkling stars.  Beautiful.

A Typical village in Bali.  Where a tradesman earns $4 a day.

Earthquake! One night, at around 3 a.m. Gra was woken by deep loud rumbling like a freight train and the whole room, including our bed, shaking. Gra woke me up (see, I can sleep through anything!) and urged me out of bed, quickly dressing we ran outside.  No one else appeared to be wake, we were expecting people to all come rushing out.  Nope, just us, giddy from sleep. We looked down the hill to the village, and apart from dogs barking like crazy, it seemed no one was concerned so we ventured back to our beds to sleep.  I must admit I lay awake   ..waiting   listening..  before drifting off.  Next day we found heard it was a 5.5 Earthquake, though most said they slept and had no idea.

Skip? Is that you?

Who said you can’t share a hat?

Funny boy, he loves wearing that “inner” thingy that goes inside his pretend hardhat.  So long as he doesn’t want to wear it to the shops ..reminds me of some barbaric execution helmet!
