Baby Shower Cupcakes
February 16th, 2008 by Nanna
I can hardly stand up because for the past hour I’ve been hunched over 80 tiny weeny bite-sized cupcakes for the Baby Shower.

I have several beautiful antique tiered cake plates.. along side pin-wheel and ribbon sandwiches making a delicious, irresistible spread.
My late mother’s beautiful hand embroidered doilies and 19th century fine linen table cloths add a lovely pretty touch.
Tiered cake plates filled with baby cupcakes, mini lamingtons (butter cake in the shape of a cube, coated in a layer of chocolate icing then coated in desiccated coconut), rich decadent chocolates, and tiny jam rolls. Is your mouth watering yet?

How gorgeous are these sugar cubes in pink and white heart shapes. Four tiny-weeny sugar hearts equal 1 teaspoon of sugar, while the large hearts are a single serve. I also found teabags (unfortunately too many people to manage teapot tea) with different witty girlie messages and quotes like “A woman is like a teabag. You don’t know her strength until she is in hot water!” on each tag.

My collection of antique trio’s.

I’ve just picked up the cake, a bit disappointed they didn’t use matching blue icing for the writing – never mind, I’m probably being too fussy as usual. I replaced the dark blue ribbon with a pale blue one and it looked much better.

Underneath all that icing is a delicious mud cake!

I agree they should have matched the writing. I love your tea cups! I have a small collection. I do not have the matching dessert plates as you do! I wish I did. I have just collected a few here and there at antique stores, and such. Where did you get your beautiful collection? I am also a grandmother that makes cupcakes. Utah.
Thank you for sharing.
