32 Weeks

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Erin’s previous scan showed she had a low laying placenta, but today’s scan saw that it had moved upwards and completely out of the way.

It was fantastic to see her again, with the assurance that she is progressing perfectly.  She is very cramped in there now with her head down, so getting images was harder, especially her face as she continually hid behind her hands.  She surprised us all by opening her eyes several times during the ultrasound – which the sonographer said was unusual as the fluid is pretty gritty so babies rarely open their eyes.  We also got to see her practicing breathing! And just to be extra-super-dooper-positive Erin asked to check her sex, and yep, it’s a girl, no mistake!

She now weighs 4lb 7oz, and should she continue to gain weight (at the same pace), she should be about 7lb 10oz at birth, a little smaller than Tyson  at 8lb 3oz.

Just a very quick entry..

Erin has had pains all night, so sounds like she might go on her own…

I can’t even begin to explain how I feel. Nervous and anxious, tinged with fear and excitement, making me feel very emotional…..

Ultrasound Photo’s [@ 38.3 Weeks]

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Looks like our lawn at the moment, but it is apparently hair! Funny how the littlest things get you excited. We all shouted “ohhmyygodd he has hair”, like he is the only baby in the world to actually have hair and it was some kind of miracle.

.Watching the ultrasound live, he didn’t look alien, but it’s these still photo’s that now look so weird and distorted. I suppose if I was squashed in there, I’d look distorted too!

Pregnancy Photography Sunday

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Erin wanted some tasteful photo’s of her very pregnant belly as a reminder of one of the most precious times in a mother’s life. So we spent the afternoon playing around with different poses, and ended up with these three favourites to be framed as a set of three. Taken with a Canon EOS 40D.

Happy Easter, 39 Weeks ..and a Spyder

Only a few more days now until we see our Grandson for the very first time. The excitement is building and the anxious feelings I have for my daughter have well and truly kicked in.
.
My baby is having a baby.
.
Do Nanna’s nest? Well, this one has. The guest bedroom has been spring cleaned ready for his visits. I’ve taken the mirror and tiny draws off the top of the dressing table and now a change mat fits perfectly on top and a basket over flowing with of all the essential baby items I could think of. There is room in the corner for a cot later down the track, though secretly I wish I had one now. My clothes line looked so sweet yesterday with bunny rugs, wraps and hooded towels gently fluttering in the breeze. I couldn’t resist the most gorgeous Moses Basket that I’m sure will come in very handy when Erin needs to put him down.
.
Gra & I went shopping yesterday for Erin’s birthday present – a chest freezer and a butchers pack of meat to get them started. All the kids are coming down today for a BBQ lunch, so we’ll give Erin her present then. A week early, but what the heck!
.
A couple of days ago, Gra got his much awaited Cam-Am Spyder, a three wheeled roadster. And Wow, what a blast! Gra has just left on this beautiful still morning to go for a ride before the kids arrive. I’ll add some photo’s for you later.

The Date is Set!

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Erin is booked in next Tuesday night to be induced. She will have cervical gel at 8pm, then the following morning, have her waters broken and an IV .

So, all going to plan, my Grandson should arrive on the 26th of March!

Unless of course, she goes off on her own over Easter.

Yeah, he’s a big boy!

It was so exciting to see him again yesterday. To see his little heart beating steadily always makes my own heart skip a beat. Positioned with his head down with his back against Erin’s, he was again difficult for the sonographer to see and measure. We were all amazed when she exclaimed “Look, he’s got hair!” I had no idea that could even be picked up with a normal ultrasound. We got a good look at his nose and lips. His mouth opening and closing, even saw his tongue! Erin & I thought he had a big nose – Gav thought we were mean picking on him! Ahh, but you know what a big nose means Gav! *grin*

Erin & Gav have their OB appointment to discuss the ultrasound results at 4.30pm today.

38 Weeks

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Erin’s belly is huge, sticking right out the front, tight and uncomfortable. Honestly, it might explode in a whistling fury of air at the slightest poke!

And Erin finally hung up her scissors yesterday.

Ultrasound Booked

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Latest update after today’s Obstetrician appointment is still some concern at the size (big) of her baby. So next Wednesday (19th) Erin is booked in for an ultrasound. He is still suggesting at this stage he won’t let her go over her due date.

Impending Fatherhood

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

..seems to have given Gav an extra burst of  cheekiness.

The topic was of Erin’s waters breaking. Lots of laughter, albeit nervous laughter from Erin, about embarrassing and hilarious imaginary situations. The protection of their mattress from Niagara Falls was soon the subject.

“Couldn’t you just slip into a bin liner?” Gav asked Erin.

While we all rolled around belly-laughing at Gav’s comment, I’m sure Erin was laughing through gritted teeth.

If Gavin doesn’t watch out, he will definitely suffer a black eye in the labor ward.
