32 Weeks

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Erin’s previous scan showed she had a low laying placenta, but today’s scan saw that it had moved upwards and completely out of the way.

It was fantastic to see her again, with the assurance that she is progressing perfectly.  She is very cramped in there now with her head down, so getting images was harder, especially her face as she continually hid behind her hands.  She surprised us all by opening her eyes several times during the ultrasound – which the sonographer said was unusual as the fluid is pretty gritty so babies rarely open their eyes.  We also got to see her practicing breathing! And just to be extra-super-dooper-positive Erin asked to check her sex, and yep, it’s a girl, no mistake!

She now weighs 4lb 7oz, and should she continue to gain weight (at the same pace), she should be about 7lb 10oz at birth, a little smaller than Tyson  at 8lb 3oz.

Ultrasound Photo’s [@ 38.3 Weeks]

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Looks like our lawn at the moment, but it is apparently hair! Funny how the littlest things get you excited. We all shouted “ohhmyygodd he has hair”, like he is the only baby in the world to actually have hair and it was some kind of miracle.

.Watching the ultrasound live, he didn’t look alien, but it’s these still photo’s that now look so weird and distorted. I suppose if I was squashed in there, I’d look distorted too!

Ultrasound Booked

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Latest update after today’s Obstetrician appointment is still some concern at the size (big) of her baby. So next Wednesday (19th) Erin is booked in for an ultrasound. He is still suggesting at this stage he won’t let her go over her due date.

It's a BOY!

(Looking up from underneath)

Part way through the ultrascan the machine broke down! We sat waiting for about half an hour and thankfully we were right to go again. He was now in a very difficult position and couldn’t even get a decent head measurement. So we are sent away for an hour to have lunch, have a walk around and hopefully he will move. Third time lucky – and we even get a perfect view of his packed lunch! We are all over the moon with excitement of knowing it’s a BOY!

The Beatrix Potter nursery theme has now gone out the window (won’t take up much room to store) after seeing the Kidsline Zanzibar Range and these cute accessories which is much more boyish. We spent the afternoon putting up the wallpaper border – and really pleased with the result – it certainly looks like a Boy’s nursery now!

For the record, Erin and Gav are now on their third Boy’s name (nope, I’m not telling – gotta have some secrets). I’m betting they will probably change their mind again! Riley, Cameron,

Kinda fuzzy (and that’s just how you made me feel when I saw you) and blurry, but YOU none the less!

scan1

A tiny hand waving in front of your face. Your umbilical cord drapped around your shoulders with your head resting back as if using it for a pillow! Nice and comfy.

Legs and feet. Will you have size 14’s like your Dad?

An Arm? I have to confess I am totally confused by this pic!

Your Hand. Looking closely I can see your fingers, in bright white lines.

Not long now until the 20 week ultrascan, then not only will we see you clearer, we can settle arguments about your sex!

Today is a very exciting day!

Erin rang this morning to ask me to come up to her place by 2:30pm. I wasn’t going to go as I’m pretty sure they will only let Gav go in and besides, Erin & Gav might like this to be a private time, so I certainly wouldn’t want to intrude.

But Erin has insisted “Nooo, please come Mum, I’m sure Gav will convince them to let you come in too!”. I have my doubts, but even if I don’t get to go in and see you wiggling around on the screen – I’ll get to see the pic’s soon after and that will be just as exciting!

At 13.2 weeks I think it’s too early to find out your sex – if not, I hope you uncross your legs so we can peek!

Amazing! There simply is not another word worthy to describe the feeling of seeing you today. I was completely mesmerized and filled by wonderment. I felt truly awash with love at the very sight of you, my first grandchild…

Your tiny hands with delicate fingers so clearly defined waving, legs stretching and curling, your heart beating strongly. Mouthing soundless words. Making a fashion statement in the womb by wearing your umbilical cord like a scarf! Perfect little feet. Perfect little everything.

PS: The sonographers were lovely letting me come in to watch. Besides (in their words), it would be like saying “No” to a Labrador!

…and I will put your pic’s up soon!
